Buggy Time

Little Joel has got a bit big for the carrycot on his pram so we've converted it to the buggy.
It's so brilliant! It goes front and rear facing so I still get to see him for now, and tilts right back for naps or he can sit up to see the world which he really likes too.
I really think it's a very funky pram system! Good old Mamas and Papas!

Dreams

When I first brought Joel home from the hospital and he was next to my bed in his Moses basket, I'd keep waking up panicking that he was in bed with me and I was squishing him, or leaning on him.  It would always turn out to be a corner of duvet, or a bit of pillow, but for a few panic full seconds, I'd be sure I'd drifted off to sleep whilst feeding and done something dreadful.  But I'd always have put him back in his cot and sure enough, he was always there sleeping peacefully!

Anyway, it all eased when he went to his own room and cot, but I've been dreaming again that he's in bed with us!  I don't know whether it's because for the two weeks of holiday he was in our room in a travel cot or not, but I keep waking Steve up by yelling - 'the baby' and thinking I've rolled onto him in the night.

Most strange.  The brain is an odd thing.

Mind you, the first nights in our own beds after the holidays I was so tired I pretty much zonked out and forgot I had a baby!  I was very surprised to hear a cry at 4.30 in the morning and it took a couple of minutes to realise that was my cue to go and feed him!

Time Away...

I was asked to play the piano for the evening service at Church tonight.

I left Joel with Steve and was away for an hour and a half.

And nothing bad happened!!  I came home to fine him sleeping peacefully after a happy bathtime and that was it!!

I wasn't too worried about leaving him with Steve, just the fact I wouldn't be with him at what is an important time of day.

I feel a bit surplus to requirements now! Although it does mean that I may be able to partake in more worship evenings and play a bit more at Church maybe.

I love being needed by Joel, and I love having him near me, but maybe it's time I started to do a few more things on my own??  I was expecting to do this after 6 months when he's weaning onto solids and won't need so many booby feeds, but if he's able to go to bed without me, then it'll free me up quite a bit.

My Gorgeous Baby!!

Cheeky!!

Driving Home

After two weeks away we're on route to home and our own beds and routine!

As nice as holidays are, it's like Dorothy says - 'there's no place like home'!

And one little baby is ready for a rest after his time away too!

Holidays II

We are zee crazy Eenglish - on the beach in the rain!!

Joel didn't seem to mind!

Sitting on Aunty Sarah

Snoozing in the garden in our second holiday home

On Daddy's knee

Snoozing in my arms on the beach

Being driven about in the sand car by his cousins!

Home From Home

As we near the end of our second week away I am contemplating how much stuff I brought for Joel and the effort it'll take to pack the car!
Being paranoid about how he may have reacted to being in two strange houses and unfamiliar surroundings I ensured he had as many home comforts as possible!
His pram, his bouncy chair, his baby gym, his own bed sheets etc... And on the whole I'm glad they all came. I think he's appreciated them!
He's certainly come on a lot these two weeks. He's discovered a shouty voice, is trying to sit unaided and pull his head and shoulders off the ground, his rolling side to side is taking him places and he manages somehow to cross a room!! He wiggles about and shuffles his body along and he loves the bath seat grandma bought him as he can lounge in the bath on his own and apparently he finds it rather brilliant to look like a king whilst bathing!!
