Moments

This morning we were running late.

Joel needed a bath, I had slept in and couldn't be bothered to rush, I wanted a cup of tea, and Joel had just drunk his milk and I was trying to change his nappy and dress him and amidst all this, he pulled himself up to standing, put his arms around my neck and hugged me, resting his head on my shoulder.

I stopped everything, and hugged him back.  It was certainly a moment.  I could have ignored a need for tea, the loo, work and everything to just stand like that for longer.

It didn't last though.  He went to sit down and knocked his head and cried and then he needed cuddles and comforts and it was time to get on with the day.

But that little moment will be preserved in my memory.
